ABOUT THE GROUP
Are anxiety, panic attacks, or phobias holding you back from living your life to the fullest?
“Beyond Fear: Conquer Anxiety and Panic” is an online therapy group specifically designed for individuals suffering from anxiety disorders. In our virtual group sessions, you'll find a community of individuals who have firsthand understanding of your struggles with anxiety. Led by an experienced psychologist who specializes in anxiety disorders, our group offers a safe space for you to share your challenges, gain valuable insights, and learn effective techniques to manage your symptoms.
Using evidence-based approaches, Dr. Mayott will teach you a range of skills to address your unique symptoms of anxiety. From breathing exercises and mindfulness, to cognitive restructuring and exposure therapy techniques, you will be equipped with practical tools to help take control of your anxious thoughts and behaviors.
GROUP STRUCTURE
The group consists of eight, 1.5 hour online group sessions and will include no more than ten group members. The group is best suited for individuals with panic disorder, agoraphobia, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias like driving anxiety or fear of public speaking, though other anxiety issues may also be a good match for the Beyond Fear group.
The group is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles. You will develop the ability to identify, challenge, and restructure unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. In addition, we will focus on learning exposure therapy techniques, including creating a “Fear Ladder” which you will use to guide your independent exposure activities between group sessions. While the group is largely based on the principles of CBT, we will develop a foundation of knowledge and additional tools and skills to manage anxiety symptoms including:
The biological processes of fear and anxiety and how to make sense of those frightening anxiety symptoms
Mindfulness and breathing exercises to cope with anxiety symptoms as they occur and reduce the incidence of them occurring in the future
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) strategies to help defuse anxious thinking and work towards living more in alignment with your personal values
Together we will conquer anxiety, one step at a time.
COST
$80 per session, all sessions to be paid upfront for a total of $640.
