Accommodations for high stakes exams

Do you have a diagnosis of ADHD, a learning disability, or other psychological challenge that has prevented you from performing your best academically? Or do you believe you may have a psychological or learning challenge that has not been diagnosed but if correctly identified may help you perform your best on an upcoming exam?

I provide psychoeducational testing for accommodations requests for high stakes exams, including the California Bar, GMAT, MCAT, GRE, LSAT, and more. In order to receive accommodations on these notoriously difficult exams, you must complete a series of psychoeducational and cognitive tests and provide some evidence of how your challenges have caused some level of impairment on your academic performance over time.

The process of requesting accommodations for these exams can be lengthy and requires time and commitment. You and I will meet for multiple testing sessions: One session to gather a background information on areas of academic, work, social, family, and psychological functioning (3 hours); and 1-2 sessions to complete cognitive and psychoeducational tests that are required to submit an accommodations request (4-6+ hours). I will then review the results, interpret the data, and write an extensive, formal report that is in the format preferred by the governing body of the high stakes exam you plan to take (10+ hours). We will then meet to review the results (1 hour). The typical cost of testing for accomodations purposes is $7200-8000+.

Please note in some instances - particularly if you have no history of a diagnosis, previous testing, or accommodations - you may not meet the criteria for a particular disorder (e.g., ADHD) and thus may not be eligible for accommodations. In addition, while I will do my best to support your needs, it is up to the governing body of the exam to determine whether or not the accommodations are granted.
